Hair Removal with Alexandrite Laser

At Dermalaser Beauty Lounge we are proud to have chosen for the Alexandrite laser hair removal the new painless DEKA Motus AX Alexandrite system that has been specially designed and developed with the Moveo technology that revolutionizes hair removal.

DEKA Motus AX is the only painless Alexandrite laser that is effective in treating fine and light hair. In fact, no other type of laser is able to combine efficient melanin absorption (at 755 nm-alexandrite), high peak power (over 6,000 W) and short pulse selection (up to 2 ms).

The most important problem in laser hair removal with old Alexandrite machines is that the darker the skin the harder it is to deal with hair growth because there is a high risk of causing skin burns. Motus has overcome the limitations and difficulties of traditional Alexandrite for while maintaining all the advantages.

How does it work?

The Motus AX is the first high-speed Alexandrite laser with Moveo technology. The Moveo,( Italian for movement), includes a handpiece technology integrates a sapphire tip that comes in contact with skin, reducing the reflected energy loss. The new hair removal method consists of repeated passes on the skin’s treated areas that cause gradual heating of the vital parts of the hairs thus leading to the destruction of the hair follicle in a way that is painless and safe for the patient.

With the old method used by alexandrite lasers that have the spot by spot head we have an energy loss of 20% – 30%, due to the distance of the head from the skin. With Moveo handpiece the absorption reaches 100% so we have faster results and fewer sessions.

Also, the MOVEO sapphire tip has a built-in contact skin cooling system. Maximum comfort for patient procedures is achieved by cooling the handpiece to 15°C.

Nevertheless, the Motus AX Alexandrite gives us the choice to choose the spot by spot head or the Moveo head.

The technology is not only safer and (dare we say – finally) effective on darker skin tones or lighter hair, but it is virtually pain free.

The Motus AX is manufactured by Europe’s leading laser aesthetics manufacturer, DEKA.

Benefits of MOVEO laser hair removal

  • Suitable for all skin and hair types
  • Longer interval between sessions
  • Better efficiency, fewer sessions
  • Absolute safety for the skin
  • High speed of the procedure

The Motus AX not only promises to work equally well for all skin tones, but to be 100% “painless”.

Frequent questions

Conventional hair removal methods such as waxing, hair removal creams, hair removal with tweezers, tweezers and razors can cause serious long-term problems on the skin such as freckles, pimples, varicose veins, sagging or even enlargement of the scalp.

The laser hair removal is the only scientifically accepted method of reducing hair growth. LASER HAIR REMOVAL is considered completely safe if it is done in the right way and by a scientifically trained person to ensure the correct use of the laser and to follow the health protocols. The laser does not pose a risk as it does not affect the skin, internal organs, or glands. In addition, the laser system used for hair removal plays a very important role.

At Dermalaser Beauty Lounge, the regulation and control of the use of the laser is done exclusively by qualified staff trained at the University of Manchester and the Lynton clinics in England and directly by the Italian company DEKA in both Cyprus and Italy.

Most Laser methods will simply reduce hair growth. With the Alexandrite laser method, however, there are specific advantages:

  • The depth targeted by the Alexandrite laser is the same as that of the hair follicle. It is therefore more effective in destroying unwanted hair.
  • The Alexandrite laser includes a wide range of spot sizes (laser beam diameters) which means that it can ‘mark’ areas larger than those of other lasers. This results in faster treatment at a lower cost.
  • It is safe and effective even in difficult areas (e.g., bikini)
  1. Alexandrite Moveo handpiece
  2. Alexandrite handpiece distance spot
  3. Diode handpiece

The end of the handpiece from which an Alexandrite Laser radiates is round. In all type of handles all alexandrite lasers have a round tip. If the edge is rectangular or square, then the Laser has a Diode and not a lamp with Alexandrite.

When we say Diode, we mean that the energy is produced electronically and not by a lamp with Alexandrite Crystal. Even if the radiation spectrum is at the same nanometres as an alexandrite Laser (755nm) since it does not have an alexandrite lamp, it does not have the efficiency of an Alexandrite Laser.

The peak of the Alexandrite lamp is what characterizes the efficiency by sublimating the hair follicle.

Although from the very first session the reduction will be more than 50%, it is more likely that you will need 6 or 8 sessions to achieve truly permanent hair growth treatment.

The exact number of sessions that each person needs to get rid of their hair growth depends on a number of factors. Like where the hair removal will be done, the type of hair, the colour of the skin, from hormonal and hereditary factors.

After the 6th session the result can reach 85%.

The Laser destroys the hair that is in the stage of Regeneration (growth), that is, when it has the maximum concentration of Melanin. It is important to plan repetitive treatments to deal with as many hairs as possible during the period of their growth.

Another reason for more sessions may be hormonal. Areas such as the upper lip, chin, armpits, and bikini are hormone-dependent areas. This means that these areas may require more sessions as the hairs may be more or less active due to hormonal fluctuations.

Usually, the interval between Laser sessions is every 40 days. This of course depends on the anatomical area and the change in the rate of hair growth. As the treatment progresses, the interval between sessions increases. As the number of sessions increases, so does the frequency of sessions.

Your hair growth will be PERMANENTLY reduced by 75% to 90%, depending on the colour of your hair, the area of application and the colour of your skin. The rest of the hairs will be softer, “fairer” and will appear more and more sparse. So, even for the few hairs that will remain, usually one maintenance treatment a year is enough to get rid of!

  • If you feel burning or irritation in the area, you can use a moisturizing or regenerating cream
  • If you have applied laser on the face, apply sunscreen with SPF 30 at least
  • Avoid hot showers, steam baths and saunas for at least 24 hours
  • Avoid sun exposure for at least 48 hours
  • Avoid peeling or rubbing (scratching) the specific area for 48 hours
